I recently redesigned my personal website, I took the metro UI approach inspired by Microsoft with their Windows 8 Design. I also took advantage of using CSS3 and HTML5, and use it on my custom theme. I use skeleton as my responsive framework, and Bones theme as a base template for this theme.
